This week’s installment of Beauty Scene is all about skin care and tapping into dermatological expertise. In two cases, technological advances in skin care items are now being applied to hair care. In the realm of prestige, SEEN is a new, dermatologist-created range of hair care designed to help maintain clear skin. And Grande Hair is the latest collection from Grande Cosmetics, bringing the technology it uses to yield more robust brows and lashes to the scalp. At the mass level, L’Oreal Paris’ Revitalift franchise launched Derm Intensives, a solution-oriented skin care suite of dermatologist-validated products. Here, a more in-depth rundown of what’s new.

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives

This month, L’Oréal Paris hosted a breakfast with dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner at the 1 Hotel in Brooklyn to celebrate the launch of two new serums. One is formulated with vitamin C, the other with hyaluronic acid; both are designed to work for every type of skin. They retail for $30 each. Revitalift Derm Intensives 10% Pure Vitamin C Concentrate looks to help improve radiance and neutralize free radicals. The waterless formula is sealed in an airtight metal tube to protect the highly unstable molecule that breaks down when exposed to air, light or water. Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum is anintensive hydrating serum to replenish skin’s moisture, imparting bounce while reducing wrinkles. The light texture absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky feeling on skin. The formula blends two types of hyaluronic acid molecules at a high and low molecular weight to plump skin with immediate results, starting on Day One of use. SEEN Created by Dr. Iris Rubin, this trio of hair care products was expressly created with acne-prone skin in mind. The brand incorporates skin care ingredients to create formulations that are efficacious, yet balanced to minimize comedogenic (pore-clogging) properties. Using many natural ingredients, the brand boasts products made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, or dyes and are gluten free. There are three products in the line, a shampoo, a conditioner and a blow-out cream, all designed for all hair types, including color-treated hair.

SEEN
Skin-Caring Shampoo ($29) is a sulfate-free formula that cleanses the hair and scalp without hidden irritants and pore-clogging ingredients. SEEN Skin-Caring Conditioner ($26) detangles, softens and adds healthy shine without weighing hair down, all the while helping to maintain clear skin. Last, SEEN Skin-Caring Blow-Out Creme ($24) makes the hair shiny and smooth while reducing frizz and damage from heat styling and UVs.

GrandeHair

Addressing thinning hair, cult favorite Grande Cosmetics is expanding into the hair category with a new range that includes a shampoo, a conditioner and a serum called GrandeHair. Blending vitamins, peptides and amino acids, the latter, called GrandeHair Rejuvenation Serum ($125), aims to nourish hair and scalp to promote the health of hair follicles and reinforce weak hair shafts. Packaging is luxe, in a gold-tone container and features a super simple-to-use dropper-delivery system for precise application that targets areas needing improvement. The castor oil-enriched serum is cruelty-free, dermatologist-approved and safe for color-treated hair. Designed for in-shower use, GrandeHAIR Peptide Shampoo ($22) and GrandeHAIR Peptide Conditioner ($23), aim to help restore a thicker looking mane by incorporating a blend of peptides, fruit extracts and antioxidants.
