K-Beauty distributor Soko Glam recently announced the winners of its fourth annual Best of K-Beauty Award, a program that highlights the Top 10 Korean beauty products for their innovative breakthroughs, product effectiveness and positive feedback from both the customers and Soko Glam’s experts. Here, Charlotte Cho, Founder, Soko Glam, highlights some of winners she feels represent product categories and innovations that will be trending in the coming year.

COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid
is a Vitamin C serum with 20.5% pure ascorbic acid. The high concentration of actives coupled with a low price point of $27 has enabled this serum to achieve viral status. The serum quickly sold out at launch, and within a few days amassed a 10,000-person waiting list. Unstable ascorbic acid is most effective when fresh; therefore, after the product is produced in Seoul, it is flown straight to customers in the U.S. to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness.

Neogen H2 Dermadeca Serum Spray challenges the application method and consistency of a traditional serum by dispensing the formula through a fine mist. The lightweight serum is meant to offer faster absorption and the ability to layer on other products easily, without clogging pores. Charlotte predicts serum mists will become a growing category in Korea, an innovation that is palatable by the U.S. audience for its unique and efficient application method.

British M Organics Annatto Hair Oil is infused with organic pumpkin seed and argan oil to nourish and strengthen dry strands, and create long-lasting shine. This is the first hair product to win a Best of K-Beauty Award, a nod to the potential in the hair care category in Korea. According to Charlotte, there will be a growing interest for Korean hair care products among U.S. consumers who are now primed to explore beyond skin care.

Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint is a $5 lip stain Charlotte said is unofficially called “The Korean Lip Tint” by Korean women. Etude House is known for offering innovative, fast makeup – another promising category that goes beyond skin care.
