Some of the biggest brands in beauty are busy getting the word out on their launches. Here, the buzz on an in-shower hair sleekening treatment; calming and energizing face mists and an astrologically-inspired lip balm.

Garnier

Garnier is launching several new skus in hair care, skin care and hair color for January. First up is an innovative new product called Garnier Fructis Style Sleek Shot In-Shower Styler ($4.49). Designed to cut down on blow drying time, this mix-in oil is meant to be blended with shampoo in equal parts in the shower. Then there’s Garnier Micellar Eye Makeup Remover Pads, bringing Garnier’s uber-popular micellar cleansing water to makeup remover pad form. Retailing for $9 for 100 pads, items boast a gentle formula infused with aloe to soothe the delicate eye area while removing makeup without greasy residue. In hair color, there’s Garnier Express Retouch, an instant hair concealer. Available in four shades, Express Retouch is equipped with a cushion applicator for targeted camouflaging and quick, easy touch ups. Enriched with mineral clay and pearls, the formula is transfer-resistant and can be used in between hair color applications. It’s available in black, light brown, dark blonde and dark brown shades and will retail for $10.

Olay

At an event last week, Olay launched four new skin care products and revealed two line extensions for the brand. The launch event featured a mock product lab, Instagrammable moments, drinks and appetizers, in addition to a special stand-up performance by comedian Sasheer Zamata. First up were Olay Clay Stick Masks, designed to micro-exfoliate and remove skin-dulling impurities with Kaolin clay. Retailing for $10 and available in three varieties, Pore Detox, Fresh Glow and Fresh Reset, the masks feature active ingredients such as black charcoal, pink mineral complex and white charcoal, respectively. In skin care, there’s Olay Mist Ultimate Hydration Essences. Available in Energizing and Calming, these skin care spritzes are becoming increasingly popular for their portability and ability to refresh makeup on-the-go. These items were actually designed with Gen Y in mind, as simple, convenient self care solutions. Line extensions spotlighted at the event include Olay Brightening Eye Cream ($25), Olay Whips Fragrance-Free in Total Effects SPF ($29) and Regenerist ($29). The brand also launched two new product lines in the mask and mist categories.
