Bobbi Brown’s philosophy is that beauty begins with smooth, glowing skin, and this month’s launch of the new Bobbi Brown CC Cream SPF 35 looks to make it easier than ever for anyone to get their glow on.

The new skin care hybrid, which is designed to be an essential prep step, represents that major brands are continuing to enter the CC realm.

“I think at this time CC Creams are the current trend. It’s a good evolution from what we were doing [before alphabet creams], which was primers,” said Karen Grant, Vice President and Global Beauty Industry Analyst, The NPD Group.

NPD Group said dollar sales of U.S. prestige CC creams reached $25.3 million in 2013, which includes makeup and skin care. The top three CC cream brands in U.S. prestige makeup and skin care last year were Clinique, Smashbox Beauty and Peter Thomas Roth.

Bobbi Brown’s version has been designed to color correct, plump, treat and moisturize skin, while color-correcting pigments and skin-enhancing ingredients address sallowness, dullness and redness. Available in three shades, each is created with specific undertones to brighten and counteract pigment issues relevant to a spectrum of skin tones. Pale Nude has lavender pink tones, ideal for brightening fair skin tones; Warm Nude has a natural peach tone perfect for enhancing medium skin tones; Golden Nude is a warm golden tone that enriches deep skin tones.

Key skin care ingredients include a brightening blend of cucumber, apple and scutellaria extracts while licorice, caffeine and sucrose help calm redness and inflammation. Skin-plumping and moisturizing heroes are sodium hyaluronate, trehalose and glycerin. Barley and wheat germ extracts help replenish essential lipids and cholesterol strengthens the skin barrier.

Bobbi Brown CC Cream SPF 35 will retail for $44 and is available at Bobbi Brown counters in Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Lord & Taylor and on bobbibrowncosmetics.com.
