Direct-to-consumer startup, Brandless, is debuting its first brick-and-mortar experience from May 1 to May 13 in Los Angeles. The ecommerce startup launched in July 2017 by co-founders Tina Sharkey and Ido Leffler, and offers everything for $3, from health and beauty products to food. By cutting out the middleman and shipping direct, Brandless said it saves an average of 40 percent on cost markups against national brand retailers, and appeals to the consumer group trend forecasters are calling, The Institutionless Consumer, who are seeking trust and authenticity from brands.

The company’s latest venture, Pop-Up with Purpose, will take over 3,500 square feet at 8483 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, and is designed to be an experiential space to bring awareness to the company’s new online lifestyle platform, #BrandlessLife. The recently launched content-driven microsite features articles and videos centered around the theme of living more and branding less. The pop-up space will serve as a physical embodiment of #BrandlessLife through interactive and Instagrammable moments, as well as daily activities such as workshops and panels focused on wellness, food, entrepreneurship and social impact.

“When we launched Brandless, we wanted to create an authentic new kind of relationship between people and the companies built to serve them. We wanted to fix a broken system and show people that everyone deserves better, and that better doesn’t need to cost more,” said Tina. “The BrandlessLife Pop-up with Purpose is an offline extension of our online mission, connecting and highlighting our community by putting a spotlight on them and sharing the ways we make each other kinder, healthier and more resilient. BrandlessLife is about more than shopping, it’s about shining a light on ways to live more, and brand less.”

The pop-up will not function as a retail store; however, items from the brand’s various categories will be available for sampling. For those unable to access the space, the brand will be offering live streaming through Facebook Live and on-demand access to events on the BrandlessLife blog.

Pop-Up with Purpose will also serve as a way to raise awareness of the company’s partnership with nonprofit group, Feeding America. Brandless will donate meals through Feeding America on behalf of each person that visits the pop-up throughout the two weeks, and another three meals every time a community member tags @brandlesslife and #brandlesslife on social media. Additionally, Brandless is donating 5,000 meals in honor of every speaker at the event.
