The industry is gearing up for Hauliday, a virtual shopping event founded by Cosmopolitan and payment solutions service, Klarna, to be held this weekend. The event was inspired by China’s Singles Day to offer curated deals from brands to millennial and Gen-Z shoppers.

Hauliday will feature 48 hours of shopping from brands across beauty and fashion, including Sephora, Pixi, Adidas and H&M. Cash conscious consumers will be able to make purchases using Klarna’s “buy now pay later” payment solution. The virtual shopping event will take place Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9.

The event was created because we wanted to design a big moment that gave our audience a reason to shop,” explained Nancy Berger, SVP, and Publishing Director at Cosmopolitan. “Gen-Z and millennials are a key consumer base for many brands and retailers, so in a way, we wanted to serve as a stimulus supporting these businesses.”

To drive excitement and awareness of Hauliday—and to provide invaluable consumer data on Gen-Z and millennial shoppers—CEW is hosting a free webinar, Gen Z and Millennial Shopping Behaviors, Virtual Shopping Events, and What’s Next on Thursday, August 6. The webinar will feature Jessica Pels, Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan, and Rafe Petkovic, Chief Revenue Officer, Klarna U.S., both of whom will discuss virtual shopping trends, areas of opportunity to engage consumers, insights on how young people are shopping now and predictions on future purchase behavior for the Gen Z consumer. The webinar will be moderated by Andrea Nagel, VP of Content, CEW.

Hauliday comes at a time when e-commerce is emerging as a bright spot for brands as consumers turn to the web for purchases as a result of the pandemic. Notably, The NPD Group reported that online prestige beauty sales for the second quarter grew 90 percent, representing more than 60 percent of industry sales volume.

“Beauty will be a winning consumption category for Hauliday with an opportunity for our readers to treat themselves to a new fragrance, a luxury skin care regime or their favorite makeup products,” said Nancy. “At Cosmo, we have the data to truly understand our audience and as digital natives and extremely savvy shoppers, we knew this concept would be embraced by them.”
