Investors including Goodwater Capital, Formation Group and Janet Gurwitch, partner at Castanea Partners, must have liked what they saw in online K-beauty retailer Memebox’s database. So much so the trio was among the several global capital investors who recently raised $60 million for the seller of Korean skin care and makeup.

“Our opinion is that investors saw potential in our database accumulated by the website,” said a spokesman for Memebox. “The information on consumption patterns of our users can be applied for developing products for our in-house brands.”

In August of this year, the company secured $66 million in its initial Series C fund raising round. The new funding brings Memebox’s total venture capital raised to $160 million since its founding in 2012.
