For several pioneering skin care and cosmetic creators who started companies but have since passed away, their legacy has been kept alive in a variety of ways.

For celebrity make-up artist, Kevyn Aucoin, best known for painting the famous faces of supermodels, actresses and entertainers, his cosmetic line lives on along with his creative vision, more than a decade after he has passed.

Elizabeth Arden, a true influencer in the skin care and treatment arena, still remains relevant due to newer Red Door establishments and revamped collections that target a younger demographic. In 2013, Red Door opened a 10,000 square-foot, bi-level facility in Union Square complete with pampering services that can be done in under 30-minutes.

And, there’s Hungarian-born Dr. Erno Laszlo, said to be the first celebrity dermatologist to create his own medical skin care line. Catering to the who’s who of old Hollywood, he passed away in 1972. Like Arden, he chose Fifth Avenue to house his Institute of Scientific Cosmetology in 1939. And, after years of being dormant, his Institute was resurrected and migrated from 53rd street to an 8,000-square-foot, tri-level space in Soho in 2013.

“Beautiful skin requires commitment,” was at the heart of Lazlo’s philosophy. Tailor-made products formulated to combat the signs of premature aging, environmental hazards and life’s stresses continue to be produced with this mantra in mind. Fondly remembered for creating the black Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, which is still sold, a number of new items have launched over the past six months. The White Marble Collection, designed to treat dull, uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation while revealing a brighter and radiant complexion, was released in the fall and consists of a White Marble Treatment Bar, $45, and White Marble Radiance Emulsion, $175. The Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask, $90, which offers 24-hour Smart Hydrators, not to mention a unique texture based on memory foam developed for the NASA space program, was introduced in October.

This month fans can find Transphuse Rapid Renewal Cell Protocol – Single Vial Program,$175. Designed to reverse the signs of bio-aging, the formula inhibits progerin, the “age toxin,” to delay signs of aging, boost cell renewal and rejuvenate the skin. Next month fans will be able to purchase Hydra-Therapy Refresh Infusion, $100, a triple-action serum that offers youth-restoring, deep penetrating, and plumping properties.

Created with Laszlo’s forward thinking, and spearheaded with advanced technology, these items have earned a right to stand proudly among their competitors where they are found by clients who continue to purchase them.
