Working on the front lines in
the areas most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been an effort made by thousands
of volunteers from New York and across the country. Beauty/fashion expert and founder of grassroots charity GLAM4GOOD, Mary Alice Stephenson, is one of those volunteers. In addition to spearheading the drive for donations of clothing, food and money to areas hardest hit by the storm, specifically in the Rockaways and
Breezy Point sections of Queens, she’s delivering the items in the back of her car to several points of distribution located there. Mary Alice, who photographed the above images of Rocky Point just days after the storm, is calling out to the beauty community to help provide hurricane victims the essentials they need to survive.

“They need manpower, the basics
and money. They do not need beauty products, but they do need soap and shampoo.
The volunteering and money is what will help,” she said, adding that many
beauty companies are staying in touch with her to follow up on how victims’ needs will
evolve. “The victims are literally scraping out the inside of their homes and
putting it on the street.”

Mary Alice invites those
looking to volunteer to visit Glam4Good’s
Facebook and Twitter page. CEW, which last week made a
