Nothing short of a beauty army descended upon Ulta Beauty’s grand opening of its first Manhattan location Tuesday morning. Located at 188 East 86th Street on the Upper East Side, the specialty store’s top brass, including Chief Executive Officer Mary Dillon, were on hand to greet attendees, and to provide a store tour of various departments.

“We are thrilled about the opening of this store,” Mary said, who noted that the location will open earlier than others, at 7 a.m., to accommodate Manhattan’s early risers, and is one of only two that offers services by Skin Laundry, the laser facial clinic.

Also on hand were Kecia Steelman, Chief Store Operations; Tara Simon, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Prestige Beauty; Monica Arnaudo, SVP Mass; Shiv Dutt, Vice President and General Manager, Services; and Nick Stenson, Chief Creative Officer.

Monica, who joined Ulta Beauty one month ago, led a group of beauty editors on a tour the mass side of the store, pointing out several key brands, including BH Cosmetics, Makeup Revolution and Morphe makeup palettes.

The store also boasts a M.A.C. beauty counter, a Benefit Brow Bar, skin services by Dermalogica, a K-Beauty section, rows and rows of heat styling appliances and more than 100 hair care brands. Of course, a salon is at the store’s rear and is equipped for haircuts, blows outs, updos and color. A big perk in the store is its dedication to testing products, so shoppers can touch, feel and try out items before buying.

“Our goal is to create a unified service experience where you try product and then experience a service,” said Shiv.
