It’s widely known that luxury skin care brand La Mer uses sea kelp as a main ingredient for its Miracle Broth, a mixture that ferments a blend of items to target uneven skin tone, and illuminate and hydrate skin. Sea kelp has long been recognized for its self-regenerative properties, and the brand is dedicated to supporting its sustainability through its fund, the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund, which was founded in 2017.

To mark World Ocean’s Day, the fund will support GreenWave, a North American non-profit focused on creating a new blue green economy, built and led by regenerative ocean farmers. When farmed, kelp can rebuild marine ecosystems, absorb carbon, and create millions of jobs. GreenWave’s mission is to train and support 10,000 regenerative ocean farmers and plant 1 million acres of regenerative ocean crops over the next decade.

To amplify this effort, La Mer has officially joined forces with Facebook to leverage Facebook’s technology to drive awareness, educate on the positive benefits of regenerative ocean farming, and invite consumers to take action via donations and/or sharing the cause with friends and family.

The La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund aims to commemorate and deepen La Mer’s philanthropic work with a mission to support organizations focused on marine conservation and to mobilize a new generation of youth to become change agents in their local communities.
