L’Oréal announced the acquisition of two specialized beauty companies, Logocos Naturkosmetik, a natural cosmetics brand, and Société des Thermes de La Roche-Posay, the dermatologically-endorsed skin care brand.

The buying spree continues. On August 1, L’Oréal announced the acquisition of two specialized beauty companies: Logocos Naturkosmetik, the German natural cosmetics brand, and Société des Thermes de La Roche-Posay, the dermatological skin care brand.

Founded in 1978 by a naturopath, Logocos Naturkosmetik comprises a range of brands, including Logona and Sante, all of which are vegan and bio-certified with the company’s own plant extracts and natural ingredients derived from organic farming.

Logona products span hair care, hair color, skin care and hygiene products, and are sold mainly in organic stores at a premium price point. Sante’s products include hair care, skin care, hygiene and makeup, and are accessibly priced at mass retail for young, trend-aware consumers.

“Logocos brings to the Division two authentic and certified naturaI brands as well as a unique expertise from a worldwide pioneer of the organic beauty market. In line with L’Oréal’s strategy to ‘seize what starts’, this acquisition reinforces the position of the Division on one of today’s major beauty ascending trends,” said Alexis Perakis-Valat, President of L’Oréal’s Consumer Products Division.

L’Oréal plans to expand the sales of Logocos Naturkosmetik brands internationally. L’Oréal also announced the acquisition of Société des Thermes de La Roche-Posay, the ‘dermo-cosmetic’ brand for sensitive skin that is formulated with thermal water and recommended by over 90,000 dermatologists worldwide. Key product ranges include Lipikar (dry skin), Anthélios (photoprotection), Effaclar (acne), Tolériane (sensitive skin), and Cicaplast (skin repair).

Founded in 1921, Société des Thermes de La Roche-Posay is the first thermal station in Europe exclusively dedicated to treating dermatological diseases. The thermal water of La Roche-Posay has therapeutic anti-inflammatory, healing and soothing properties to treat skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis, burn scars and cutaneous side effects of cancer treatments). More than 7,500 patients benefited from the thermal activity in 2017, generating over $4.1 million.

“This acquisition project will enable us to sustain and reinforce the dermatologic position of La Roche-Posay by developing the existing indications and making the thermal station a flagship for the brand,” said Laetitia Toupet, International General Manager of La Roche-Posay.
