Professional nail brand Morgan Taylor ushered in its holiday collaboration with NBC Universal’s “Sing 2” at a live press event held this week at Sid Gold’s Request Room in New York City.

Manicurists performed manicures for attendees to experience 12 new shades (with the chance to belt out favorite tunes at the karaoke venue, as well). The limited-edition collection, retailing for $10 apiece, debuted on Amazon and Sally Beauty on November 15, ahead of the December 22, 2021 wide release of the film. “Sing 2” is loaded with big names including returnees from “Sing,” including Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, along with additions  Halsey and Pharrell Williams.

In attendance was Morgan Taylor/Gelish spokeswoman Morgan Haile, who explained the shades were inspired by the characters and their outfits from the film including Miss Crawly Chic green metallic and Rosy Rosita red shimmer. “Inspiration can come from anywhere,” she said. “We created music-inspired nail art that can be recreated for the holidays or for an upcoming festival,” she added of a look highlighted by a clef symbol and music note.

Popular shade picks by editors and content creators included merging two glitter shades to create an ombre glitter look. Morgan also recommends a “Skittle mani” where a different shade is painted on each fingernail. Another forecast trend she predicted is a French Twist. “Instead of white as your French manicure, try a pop of color or metallic.”

The nail color segment of the beauty industry was resilient throughout the pandemic—although more consumers were forced to do their own at home. “We have seen a shift to more at-home manicures—whether it is house calls or do-it-yourself,” she said.

The return of movie theaters (and in-person events) are signs of a return to normal life. “It is time we start having fun again. We hope this collection inspires all nail lovers from our electric metallics and extra bling glitters to our classy cremes,” she said.
