A new skin care collection utilizing a patented, time-release delivery system has landed distribution at one of beauty’s most coveted e-commerce sites, Net-a-Porter. Oh, and the line’s creator was a recipient of the Nobel Prize of Chemistry in 2016.

Noble Panacea launched globally direct-to-consumer in fall 2019 and includes two collections. Developed by Sir Fraser Stoddard, who was awarded the Nobel Prize of Chemistry four years ago, Noble Panacea was founded on the research which won him the award, molecular motion. Sir Fraser, currently the Board of Trustees Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University, has overseen the development of Noble Panacea, along with Celine Talabaza, the emerging company’s CEO.

What makes Noble Panacea so different is its patented time-release delivery system, Organic Molecular Vessels [OMV], that allows for high absorption of pharmaceutical-grade ingredients into the skin. The product’s technology ensures “perpetual potency” and “long-lasting efficacy by up to tenfold compared to similar formulations without OMV-housed active ingredients,” according to Celine.

“OMV is a delivery system with the benefit that allows us to control the release of ingredients. We can make sure the release of an ingredient is slower so you get the most of an ingredient for a long time,” Celine said, adding that “we select only the highest grade of ingredients that are backed up by studies or by white papers.”

The delivery system is patented and could potentially be used outside of beauty, specifically in pharmaceuticals.

“[Sire Fraser’s] wife passed away from cancer. So for him, being a chemist, he knows that in the future the potential of these kinds of delivery systems could be an alternative, potentially, to chemotherapy where you only target the bad cells instead the good and the bad…It will take a long time to get there but this is his end goal.”

Product formulas are packaged in single-use doses to preserve formula potency and to deliver only the necessary amount. Admittedly, daily dose packaging makes sustainability challenging.

“It created a bit of stress for the product development team because we didn’t want to create [something that needed to be discarded] every time it was used. So we talked with [innovative recycling company] TerraCycle to help us recycle the daily dose packets. Clients are invited to send all the packets back to us for free, and then we send them off to be recycled,” Celine said.

There are two collections, The Absolute Collection and The Brilliant Collection. Formulas in Absolute are richer, and therefore target an older consumer with patented OMV technology to nourish and regenerate skin. Absolute includes The Absolute Intense Renewal Serum, $420; The Absolute Active Replenishing Moisturizer, $355; The Absolute Restoring Eye Cream, $239, and The Absolute Rejuvenation Night Balm, $384.

The Brilliant Collection looks to prevent signs of aging and targets 25- to 35-year-olds—and their first fine lines. Items in Brilliant include The Brilliant Prime Radiance Serum, $253; The Brilliant Radiance Resilience Moisturizer, $215; The Brilliant Vibrant Eye Infusion, $149, and The Brilliant Overnight Recharge Cream, $232.

The brand has also partnered with Girl Up to lead workshops for young women to help build the next generation of women leaders in the science industry.
