Legendary hair stylist Peter Lamas is launching his own line of hair and skin items, each of which will take on a natural positioning.

LA-based Peter, who has styled the likes of Grace Kelly, Diana Ross and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, has received training with Kenneth, Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell. After decades in the styling industry, serving as a backstage beauty icon for designers Carolina Herrera and Oscar dela Renta, and owning a Beverly Hills salon, Peter became determined to create beauty products that addressed the hazards of the chemicals found in many items, and replace them with ingredients that could nurture the hair and skin.

The result is Peter Lamas Beauty, which are 100% vegan and are free of parabens, sulfates and petrochemicals.

Hair care includes the Chinese Herb line, which is comprised of a Revitalizing Styling Cream ($20), Stimulating Shampoo and Conditioner ($22 apiece) and a Regenerating Scalp Serum ($48). Items use olive leaf extract, Brazilian palm tree oil and jojoba seed extract to smooth strands. The star item, the Scalp Serum, is meant to be applied directly to the scalp to treat the root of hair loss and to help stimulate the scalp and energize hair follicles. It uses swertia, procapil and trichogen to help block dht formation – a hormone associated with hair loss – and increase scalp circulation.

In skin care, Peter is introducing an age-defying duo designed to repair and nourish skin at the cellular level under the Vital Infusion brand. The Overnight Age-Defying Facial Treatment ($54) contains Stay-C 50, alpha lipoic acid and DMAE, blended with apple stem cells to help decrease wrinkles, even skin tone and restore firm skin. Derived from a rare Swiss apple tree, apple stem cells are found to show tremendous ability to boost the production of human stem cells, protect cells from stress and encourage skin’s ability to regenerate. A Firm and Lift Age-Defying Eye Serum ($40) combines apple stem cells and glycopeptides with a proprietary mineral complex.

The Cuba-born hair stylist said of his new line, “ I wanted to create something that is effective and results oriented. I really believe in the power of Chinese medicine and herbs.”

He added that he is considering adding hair growth stimulant minoxidil to a future collection of hair care products.

Items are sold at peterlamas.com; discussions are being held with leading mass and masstige beauty retailers for distribution this fall.
