P&G Salon Professional is undergoing a makeover—at least in name.

The division, which has been operating under its current name for six years, has changed its name to Wella, The Salon Professional Division of Procter & Gamble. Reuben Carranza, North American Business Unit Leader of the division, which houses the Wella, Sebastian and Nioxin brands, said the rebranding comes after seeing that the salon industry values the DNA of the Wella name. “‘Wella’ is how most salon owners and stylists refer to the business. The name is over 130 years old. There’s a lot of equity there. ” Carranza is in his seventh year of leading the business, a longevity that is atypical at P&G. “There’s acknowledgement of how important it is to have long term relationships in the professional market,” he said. A new logo [not the logo featured above] will start to appear on business cards, email signatures and letterhead, and depicts the Wella mermaid along with brand logos including Wella Professionals, Sebastian Professional, Nioxin and Clairol Professional.
