PIXI Beauty’s new Clarity Collection follows in the vein of its other skin care offerings in that it encompasses a cluster of products centered around a specific ingredient, i.e. its Ultra Luxe-Rose Infused line and the glycolic acid-based Glow collection.

Clarity, the brand’s major spring launch, is set to bow on the Pixi e-commerce site during the week of June 8, before rolling out to Target doors nationwide at the end of the month. Its star ingredient: salicylic acid.

“At Pixi we create families in skin care with a specific ingredient that really resonates,” said Amanda Bell, global director of education and artistry for the brand, which is headquartered in Los Angeles. “The collections allow for people to find their holy grail products that work as part of their daily maintenance, or that they can pick and choose from to weave into their routines.”

In addition to salicylic acid, which is derived from willow bark, other key ingredients are lactic acid and glycolic acid. Amanda said that the trio of acids “work in conjunction with one another to decongest, soften and improve the texture of the skin.”

Packaging in sky blue and celadon green containers, the offering includes a cleanser, tonic, concentrate, lotion and mist. The cleanser is a combination cream/gel formula with humectants that trap moisture on the surface. “It also contains aloe vera for calming and soothing and probiotics to strengthen the skin,” said Amanda.

The aloe vera-based tonic is a toner designed for both day and night use; Pixi is well-known for its tonics – the brand’s Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner is a hero product, and Amanda suggested the tonics as a good way for people to familiarize themselves with the brand.

“The Clarity Tonic uses the combination of the acids for a deep pore treatment, that is good specifically for use in problem areas,” said Amanda.

A serum intended for post-tonic use is water-based, and provides “lightweight hydration with treatment,” said Amanda. The inclusion of rosemary and thyme enhance hydration and moisturizing properties as well. The water-based Clarity lotion also contains kaolin to absorb oil and ingredients such as charcoal and violet extract.

And the Dream-y Mist, containing jasmine and lavender, is a “multi-faceted aromatic for hydration and relaxation,” said Amanda. It can be spritzed onto the face or pillow at bedtime.

“With Pixi, every single product is a standalone product,” said Amanda. “Because of the benefits you get from the cocktail of ingredients in the range, you can use it in its entirety or pick whatever you need as a booster treatment. I love the fact that we’re so egalitarian. We give you options.”

The Clarity Collection ranges in price from $15 for the mist to $29 for the tonic.
