Fall beauty regimens will get a kickstart from the ample number of cosmetic and skin care outlets popping up throughout the city. Some are old favorites returning, others are making their debut, and one is spreading its beauty wings to a new location… in Brooklyn.

Molton Brown


Location: 635 Madison Avenue

Shopping Facts: Molton Brown’s beginnings started with blending hair care products by hand above a salon on London’s South Molton Street in Mayfair. Now, in conjunction with their 40th anniversary, the British bath, body and beauty company will open a flagship store on Madison Avenue at 59th Street. (There’s also currently a Soho location.) Offering luxe goods to both men and women, Molton Brown will feature signature products, such as body and hand washes and lotions, hair care products, fragrances and candles. The store was designed by Universal Design Studio with the goal of creating a unique environment that blends science and nature, but that also engages with consumers via the test sink where people can try the bevy of hand washes for which the company is best known.

What’s new: Larger sizes, brighter colors and bolder scents.

Bite Lip Lab


Location: 174 Prince Street (corner of Thompson Street)
FYI: The store is closed Mondays.

Shopping Facts: The Toronto-based company will be made available in the U.S. with its first location in SoHo. Designed by the Austrian-based team, EOOS, the 500 square-foot shop will be awash in the brand’s signature palette of red and soft grays. The contemporary sophistication of the space brings color customization to its new home. One of Bite’s best features is their custom lipstick lab.Shoppers can customize lipsticks by mixing, pouring, painting and molding their own lipstick creations in fewer than 10 minutes.

What Else: If blending isn’t your thing, you can select from Bite’s impressive permanent lip-centric lineup, which includes seven different Bite lines of lipstick comprised of 70-plus products: crème lipsticks; matte pencils; fruity glosses and rich tints. Products are anti-aging, all natural and formulated with food-grade ingredients.

Sephora


Location: 210 Joralemon Street / Space B / Brooklyn

Date Opening: November 2013 Shopping Facts: After making its New York appearance in SoHo in 1998, Sephora, the massive and popular beauty conglomerate, will finally open their signature black and white glossy façade to Brooklynites. Found on the ground floor of the Municipal Building, the 8,000-plus square-foot shop will house over 13,000 products from over 200 brands. As with all of their stores, complimentary Express Service at the Beauty Studio, a one-on-one beauty session with a Sephora cast member, will be offered. The store will also present Sephora’s new foundation matching technology, the Sephora + Pantone Color IQ, to further enhance the shopping experience.

Lush


Location: 206A East 86th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Aves)

Date Opened: August 3, 2013 Shopping Facts:The lush life got even more so last month for Upper East Siders who saw Lush’s small but fragrant studio-like space, only 500-plus square feet, appear on 86th Street.Those familiar with the Vancouver-based, British-born chain will find the company’s regular favorites of handmade produce-like offerings; fresh cleansing rolls at the skin care bar, piles of Bath Bombs, bars of solid shampoo and face masks displayed on ice.There’s also their cosmetics line that’s worth browsing.
What’s new: Let the Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser was recently re-released, and their famous holiday creations will be hitting counters mid-October.This year’s array of products take inspiration from three places: William Morris, the English textiles designer and his intricate handmade fabrics; the shapes, prints and colors of Vintage Fireworks; and Ziggy Stardust, for a twist on a traditional and festive touch of anarchy.Calling all Bowie fans!

Harmon Face Values

Shopping Facts: Located in an historic building in Chelsea, Harmon, a subsidiary of Bed Bath & Beyond, opened a 10,500 plus square-foot emporium on 21st and 6th Avenue, a mere five blocks from its corporate flagship. Voyage enthusiasts will be impressed at the extensive assortment of trial and travel size products. Beauty lovers will flock to the various free services and demos being held to generate foot traffic, including makeovers and mani’s. If beautifying yourself makes you hungry, no problem. Get your food fill from the grab-and-go selection of locally sourced health food options from Just Sprouted, including sandwiches, soups and salads.
