Sue Feng, Revlon’s Vice President, Global Product Development, joined the company two years ago, after working on the R&D teams at L’Oréal USA and Procter & Gamble. As one of the executives Julia Goldin named as an emerging leader, Beauty Insider asked her about what it’s like working with Julia, and at Revlon overall.

Why do you love working at Revlon?

The people are very supportive here; it feels like everybody is a family. We get things done together and each department helps other departments if there’s a need. There’s definitely more close teamwork, and the leadership always emphasizes a team.

What has particularly impressed you about Revlon?

When I joined, I was very impressed with the leadership team and the marketing, R&D, and Product Development focus here. I loved how much everyone wanted to bring the company back to the top of the innovation game again and keep us there.

Have there been any surprises?

It’s a smaller company, for sure, smaller than I expected given it is an industry icon. But you can execute faster and be more effective.

What has working with Julia taught you?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that she challenges everybody that works with her and under her to do extraordinary work, not just “good enough” work. She has the ability to really stretch the capabilities of people constantly.
