One look at Teadora, a new natural beauty care concept developed by Valerie Cole, and one can’t believe it wasn’t developed by a beauty industry veteran.

The Brazilian native and former Marketing Director of Retail in South America for Apple, was surrounded—and later inspired—by sustainable ingredients, which led her to leave the tech world to create a 17-item beauty collection formulated with novel ingredients such as Acai, Pitanga, Andiroba, Buriti and Cupuacu. The latter is a Brazilian superfruit best known for its strong moisturizing benefits and antioxidants; it can be found in every Teadora product. Teadora’s leave-on products, such as the Body Oil, Body Lotion, Lip Butter and Body Butter all contain Argan Plant Stem cells for anti-aging benefits.

Now based in Seattle, Valerie created Teadora in just eight months – a huge feat, as she took her technology background and applied it to every detail of the product development process, with the aim of delivering a total sensorial journey. Secondary packaging even reflects different textures for the brand’s two scents: Rainforest at Dawn (to wake you up in the morning) and Rainforest at Dusk (to unwind you in the evening). The collection of body care consists of nourishing blends of shampoo, conditioner, lip butter, body wash, body lotion, body butter and body oil and polish, and is available in travel sizes. Price range from $15 to $45.

Valerie is currently exploring different distribution channels, including Barneys New York and Nordstrom. She said the positioning as a natural brand with beautiful scents and effective products makes Teadora different from what’s already available.

“A lot of these types of items sit on supermarket shelves, but that’s not where a lot of people like to buy their beauty,” Valerie said.

This summer, the brand is launching a mobile experience on the West Coast by visiting cities including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles to expose Teadora to high profile events, such as wellness expos and wine festivals. The Teadora Mobile Experience will introduce mini spa services such as massages, reflexology and even allow individuals to wash their hair to experience Teadora products.
