It’s the most wonderful time of the year. October is when beauty retailers officially stock their shelves with Holiday hits. This year’s offerings span the spectrum of skin care, hair, makeup, nails and beauty tools, the perfect time for beauty buffs to stock up on regular and mini sizes of their go-to items at a discount. Here, the Top 10 trends we saw at this season’s holiday previews for mega retailers Ulta Beauty and Sephora.

1. Rose Gold
Rose gold still has a hold as everyone’s metallic of choice. Favorites from this year’s offerings include the T3 Pink Singlepass iron in Millennial pink with rose-gold accents, and a well-priced Hot Tools rose gold-adorned blow dryer in chic black, both at Ulta Beauty. At Sephora, Charlotte Tilbury’s Party Girl Kit is packaged in rose gold shimmer, along with the products themselves, which are encased in the makeup artist’s signature metallic hue. Sephora Collection also offers a Spellbound Brush Set featuring rose gold makeup brushes.

2. Glitter

Sephora Collection’s glitter eye mask is on point, along with Tartan & Twine at Ulta Beauty, which offers a rose gold glittery beauty organizer to hold a makeup stash. There are several glitter-infused and holographic offerings from Sally Hansen at Ulta Beauty, as well. And, the LA Girl Eyeshadow Palette at Ulta Beauty is adorned in hot-pink glitter.

3. Metallic Accessories

At Ulta Beauty, IT Cosmetics offers a metallic, zipper-adorned clutch filled with metallic makeup brushes. Sephora offers a gilded set from Tarte called the Pineapple of My Eye Collectors Set, featuring a bevy of beautiful shadows and liners.

4. Multitude Masks

Metallic and iridescent hues still reign when it comes to super-Instagrammable beauty. At Ulta Beauty, Bliss’s Detoxifier Holographic Mask comes in two versions for face and eyes. Sephora now offers a holiday-focused, adorably-packaged hand mask and foot mask, respectively. The former is infused with avocado; the latter boasts almond oil. Also at Sephora, Peter Thomas Roth offers a mask frenzy kit featuring six of the brand’s best sellers for $75.

5. Pretty Palettes

From ravishing rose gold tones to gorgeously gigantic, palettes are still hugely popular when it comes to holiday gifting. At Ulta Beauty, Tarte’s oversized version offers tons of powder shadow hues, in addition to a lipstick, mascara, liquid liner and a few blush options. Sephora’s Sephora Collection Star Catcher Eyeshadow Palette is a $200 value for just $36 and offers a variety of shades.

6. Advent Calendars
Originally popular in England, beauty brands have gotten on the beauty advent calendar bandwagon with much success in the past several years. Sephora Collection has one, as well as NYX’s 24 Days of Beauty iteration, which features mini versions of its best-selling cosmetics from lip oils to shadows, available at Ulta Beauty.

7. To-go Treats

Minis abound this holiday season, as on-the-go beauty increases in popularity with Millennials, and as travel and working remote increases. Sephora offers the Sephora Favorites Best Hair Ever contains minis from Living Proof, Moroccanoil, Alterna, Amika and more. In addition, Sephora’s LashStash offers a mix of full size and mini lash lengtheners. Sephora also offers a tightly-edited mix of mini skin care favorites from Shiseido in a kit called Shiseido The Best Sellers Set.

8. Amped Up Skin Care for Hands

There’ve been many more hand scrubs and super-hydrating hand creams on the market in the last year, creating a new skin care category all its own. To reflect that, Sephora Collection offers its own Rescue Hand Set, which includes a honey-infused hand polish to exfoliate and an almond hand balm to hydrate.

9. Curated Cream of the Crop

Sephora offers its “Best Of” franchise for hair, fragrance, lashes and skin. The skin edition features pro picks to get the glowiest results imaginable. At Ulta Beauty, Clinique has pared down its skin care offerings to best sellers in its Stars of Clinique Kit.

10. Nude Palettes

At Sephora, there are tons of nude palette offerings from Natasha Denona, Kevyn Aucoin and the Too Faced Dream Queen Limited Edition Makeup Collection. At Ulta Beauty, Too Faced also sells a mini version of its Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette and PopSugar offers a Crystal Power palette in a variety of nude shimmer tones.
