According to Tribe Dynamics, there are two different types of communities that surround a brand. There are the indie communities, those that support brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, which are small, but strong and create a lot of content and engagement. And then there are the larger communities from brands that have been around longer, such as M.A.C, which has a community twice the size as Anastasia, but is less engaged. In Tribe Dynamics’ Q3 report, the firm looks at how many people are talking about a brand, how often are they talking about a brand and how engaged an audience becomes once a brand is being talking about.

“It’s fun to see the differences between the communities and brands. For a big brand it often means there is a lot of opportunity to communicate better with their influencer community. The brand needs to engage more,” said Conor Begley, Co-founder and President of Tribe Dynamics.
