While winners of the CEW Beauty Insiders’ Choice Awards are due a well-deserved pat on the back, they are also a reminder of the most important trends governing the beauty space. Mintel takes a deep dive into consumer trends and habits to explain why some brands won.
This afternoon, CEW hosted its 19th Annual 2013 Beauty Insiders’ Choice Awards, the industry’s recognition for the top beauty launches of the previous year. The event drew 1,100 people to the Grand Ballroom within the Waldorf=Astoria in Manhattan, where 36 awards were presented to the teams behind the year’s most innovative products.
One of the comments CEW hears as to why some brands don’t enter the Beauty Insider’s Choice Awards is that “the deck is stacked” for the larger companies, whose board members ultimately vote on the winners. Our answer to that is the Indie Award, made specifically for an independent manufacturer of beauty products, who first introduced items in the U.S. within the last five years.
CEW members have cast their votes and selected 186 finalists from more than 650 product entries for this year’s Beauty Insider’s Choice Award.
