Mike George was named President and CEO of Qurate Retail Group, Inc., in March 2018. In this role, Mike leads this select group of eight leading retail brands -- QVC, HSN, zulily, Ballard Designs, Frontgate, Garnet Hill, Grandin Road and Improvements -- all dedicated to providing a ‘third way to shop,’ beyond transactional ecommerce or traditional brick-and-mortar stores. Globally, Qurate Retail Group is #1 in video commerce, reaching approximately 370 million homes worldwide via 16 television networks and multiple ecommerce sites, social pages, mobile apps, print catalogs, and in-store destinations, and is #3 in ecommerce in North America and #3 in mobile commerce in the US (according to Internet Retailer). Thanks to its 27,000 team members worldwide, Qurate Retail Group combines the best of retail, media and social to curate products, experiences, conversations and communities for millions of highly discerning shoppers, while also curating large audiences for thousands of brand vendors. Mike previously served for 12 years as President and CEO of QVC, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qurate Retail Group (formerly Liberty Interactive Corporation). As retail evolved and technology advanced, Mike and his team developed new ways to engage customers over multiple television, ecommerce, mobile and social platforms, expanded QVC’s footprint into Italy, China, and France, and positioned QVC as a leading retailer in Beauty, Fashion, Culinary, and other growth categories. QVC also extended its industry leadership through Liberty Interactive’s acquisitions of zulily and HSN, Inc. Mike came to QVC, Inc. from Dell, Inc., where he was the Chief Marketing Officer and also led its U.S. Consumer business. Prior to this, Mike was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co., Inc., and led the firm’s North American Retail Industry Group. He also served as a member of the firm’s partner evaluation committee. Mike serves on the Board of Directors for Qurate Retail Group, Brinker International, the National Retail Federation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the National Constitution Center, where he also chairs the Corporate Council. He also is a member of CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion. Mike served on the Payless ShoeSource Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006, and served on the Kimmel Center Board of Directors for six years. Mike earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and his master’s degree in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
