Rachael Ostrom is Aveda’s executive director of consumer engagement and has been with the company for 12 years. She is currently responsible for cause-related marketing, CRM, loyalty marketing, advertising, digital, and E-commerce globally for the Aveda Corp. During the past 12 years she has worked to position the company as a leader with the beauty industry, as well as an environmentally conscious corporation. Since becoming the first professional brand in the haircare industry to launch E-commerce in 2004, Aveda has seen tremendous success and innovation within the online channel. Aveda followed its E-commerce success in 2009 by becoming the first brand in the beauty industry to launch a mobile commerce site and was recently named “best-in-class” by Mobile Commerce Daily.

Alexis Rodriguez has over twelve years experience in public relations and brand development within the beauty and fashion industries combined. She began her career with DNA Public Relations, where she cultivated a love and passion for the beauty industry. Two years later, Rodriguez joined a global brand team at Ketchum Public Relations, expanding her client base from beauty to consumer, lifestyle, food, and healthcare. Rodriguez left Ketchum in 2002 to join Tractenberg & Co. where she worked with a number of well-known beauty brands including Stila, Sephora, MD Skincare, and Kate Spade Beauty.

In 2003, Rodriguez was hired as the in-house PR Manager to launch Diane von Furstenberg Beauty, the fashion designer’s return to the beauty arena. Two years later, she was promoted to Director of Public Relations, overseeing global communications in 12 countries including the US, UK, Italy, France, Asia, and Russia.

After five years at DVF, Rodriguez moved in-house to LVMH, Inc. to oversee PR in North America for Parfums Givenchy and Pucci Fragrance. For Givenchy, Rodriguez spearheaded the largest men’s fragrance PR launch in the history of the brand, working directly with “Play” spokesperson Justin Timberlake and his team to create a clickable video of behind-the-scenes footage of the ad campaign shoot, which quickly went viral and was hailed as a digital media breakthrough.

Currently, Rodriguez is the Executive Director of Public Relations for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. In only two short years, she has helped implement a comprehensive social media strategy, resulting in a 177% increase of Facebook fans and a 243% increase of Twitter followers in one year. In 2010, Rodriguez played a prominent role in launching Bobbi’s sixth book Beauty Rules with a strategy focused heavily on social gaming and vlogger relationships. Most recently, she oversaw the launch of the brand’s Pinterest page.

As the Vice President of Global Digital Marketing corporately for The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc., Marisa is charged with supporting the development of world class digital and social marketing across the company’s collection of over 25 prestige beauty brands. In addition to providing company-wide education on digital and social marketing and trends, Marisa has become a frequent industry speaker on digital marketing at conferences and events including The CMO Summit, Luxury Interactive, WOMMA Supergenius, BlogHer, InternetWeek and the WWD Media+Style Summit and Technology Summits.

Leading up to this position, Marisa’s background spanned both the client and agency worlds. As Vice President of Global Advertising at Unilever Cosmetics International, she was responsible for the advertising of a portfolio of top designers’ fragrances: Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Nautica, BCBG, Valentino, Lagerfeld, Cerruti and Chloe. There, in 1999 she originated the company’s interactive marketing unit, which conceived award-winning digital initiatives for the category. Other highlights include tenures as Senior Vice President of Marketing for the home furnishings company Sure Fit, Vice President of Advertising for Revlon, and agency account leadership for a number of world-famous brands and companies, including P&G Haircare, Marshalls, Johnson & Johnson, Clairol and Victoria’s Secret stores.

Concurrent to her advertising and marketing career, in 2002 Marisa became the founder and president of the organization + website Executive Moms (www.executivemoms.com), which has become a leading social network and content provider to this important demographic of accomplished, multi-faceted women. In this capacity, she has appeared on The Today Show, NBC, CBS, FOX, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Redbook, and in numerous other TV and print media nationwide.

Of the honors she has received for her work, Marisa’s favorite was her selection by UNICEF as their iconic representative of United States working mothers for their State of the World’s Children report. She was chosen by Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) as one of their 2011 Advertising Working Mothers of the Year, and was honored to be just named a “Digital Doyenne” by CEW. Marisa is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University. She lives in New York City with her forbearing husband David and their generally perfect daughters Hannah and Avery.
