Why is CEW membership important to you?

I love being able to connect with other women in the industry and share information. My go-to sessions are the “Founder Fridays” series, where real business owners (big and small brands) provide insight on many different emerging topics and provide relevant and tangible advice. Helps me stay educated on trends and information for the industry.

Do you have any tips for getting the most out of CEW membership?

Social media is a big part of my day-to-day life, so I have IG notifications turned on for CEW! That helps me stay up to date on new posts and articles or sessions to jump into and save to read/ watch once a week.

What do you love most about working in the beauty Industry?

My dream jobs as a little girl were to be a hair stylist or makeup artist.  I grew up in a salon family and loved all aspects of it… fast forward to career selections and logically I became an accountant working in corporate finance. By founding, Unwrapped Life, with my sister, I’ve been able to blend my two dreams together, having ridiculously great hair (plastic-free, of course!) and my unrelenting passion for spreadsheets. I love the ability to chart your own course and shake things up a bit without as many confinements as other industries.

What advice would you give someone who is inspired by your career and one day wants to be in a
similar position?

Never give up, the road might feel long and curvy, but that doesn’t mean you’re not on the right road.  Even if you’re not where you want to be today, all steps are important and from every opportunity you have something to gain and learn. And… never stop asking questions or settle for “that’s just how it’s done” type answers!

How important has mentorship been in your career journey?

I have had the pleasure of having three amazing mentors at different times in my career, one of whom I still regularly call with random questions. Even from different industries, mentors can be great sounding boards and provide more experience and insight. Finding a mentor who helps you work through an issue rather than merely telling you what to do is what I find most helpful.
