Janet Chan is Vice President of nügg beauty, a clean beauty brand that offers natural and vegan skin care in fun, colorful packaging. As Brand VP, Janet oversees strategy, marketing, product development, content strategy, e-commerce, go-to-market, channel distribution and end-to-end P&L. At nügg, she is expanding the brand into exciting new categories including body care and color care.
Janet Chan is a lifelong beauty enthusiast, having announced to her parents that she wanted to be a makeup artist at the age of 10. After spending time in the finance and consulting sectors, she decided to pursue a career in the world she truly loved – beauty. She joined Revlon, where she launched award-winning products in multiple categories, including Lip, Face, Eye, and Color Collections. She was promoted to Senior Global Brand Manager after developing and launching Revlon’s first #1 Nielsen-ranked product in 20 years and solidifying Revlon’s market leadership in Lip innovation. Janet then took her beauty launch expertise to the indie realm, where she led marketing and strategy for Kevyn Aucoin. She then joined L’Oreal as Assistant Vice President, where she led revenue growth initiatives and product innovation for both L’Oreal Paris and Maybelline, helping to drive double digit growth. After working with the world’s largest beauty brands, Janet wanted to get back into the start-up world, loving the growth opportunities and entrepreneurial spirit of indie brands. She joined as VP of Marketing at treStiQue, a millennial lifestyle beauty brands, where she worked to build the brand’s e-commerce business, and grow distribution at key retailers including Sephora, QVC, REVOLVE, Free People, Amazon, and FabFitfun, amongst others. In 2019, Janet joined nügg beauty, a division of New World Natural Brands. She is proud to be part of New World Natural Brands and the revolution into ‘clean, green, and blue’ beauty.
Prior to her career in beauty, Janet was in finance and consulting. She was a strategy consultant with Deloitte, focused on revenue growth strategy. She also authored Deloitte’s first white paper on environmental sustainability. She started her career at JP Morgan with the equity research and private equity groups. Janet has a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business. After a lifetime in NYC, she currently lives in the windy city of Chicago with her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, writing Yelp restaurant reviews, and running along the Chicago lakefront on a sunny day.
