Why is CEW membership important to you?

CEW has been a great resource in so many ways—not only providing an opportunity to connect with members from all different areas of beauty, but also providing a wide range of valuable and timely information through its webinars, forums, speaker series, trend reports and newsletters.  I appreciate that it has continuously evolved its footprint and programming to align with the ever-changing face of the beauty industry.

Do you have any tips for getting the most out of CEW membership?

I think that every member has their own unique needs and the beauty of CEW membership is that it can be tailored to support those needs at every level. You can choose to be deeply involved through mentorship programs, committees, etc. or just to participate in select webinars or events. I would recommend that new members spend some time on the CEW site to understand the breadth of resources available and select those that speak to them. The CEW team is also extraordinarily responsive and can be a great source of support to new members.

What do you love most about working in the beauty industry?

When I got my first job in beauty 20+ years ago, I knew immediately that I had found my home. I’ve always found the industry to be inclusive, innovative, inspirational and aspirational, but most importantly, I love the overall mission of helping people to feel beautiful and the confidence that this provides.

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone to possess in order to have a successful career?

Everyone travels their own path and there are certainly unplanned elements that lead to opportunities over the course of a career, but I’ve found the following basic principles to always hold true and be key to success: 1) always be open to learning and growing, 2) work hard and focus on the details, 3) surround yourself with positive, talented people, 4) operate from a place of integrity, 5) treat others with respect and kindness.
