Marc Rey just left Shiseido where he was, for the last 5 years, CEO of Shiseido Americas and Chief Growth Officer for Shiseido group.
He was responsible for overseeing the Americas organization and Shiseido’s brands in the U.S., including Shiseido, NARS Cosmetics, bareMinerals, Dolce & Gabbana, Laura Mercier, Clé de Peau Beauté, Tory Burch Beauty, Drunk Elephant as well as the Company’s subsidiaries in Canada and Brazil. He also serves as the Global Brand Holder for bareMinerals, NARS and Laura Mercier, Tory Burch Beauty and Drunk Elephant .
As chief Growth Officer for Shiseido Company. Rey led the company’s global M & A efforts from New York (Drunk Elephant, Laura Mercier, MATCHCo, a personalization technology company, JWALK Creative Agency and Giaran, Inc., an AI-driven technology start-up and the worldwide beauty license for Tory Burch). In his role as CGO, Rey also oversaw the global Digital Center of Excellence, and the Company’s Technology Acceleration Hub with offices in Austin, TX, Cambridge, MA and Palo Alto, CA.Rey was a member of the Company’s global executive committee.
Prior to joining Shiseido, Rey served as the Regional Vice President North America at Coty.Previously, Rey was the President of the International Designer Collection at L’Oréal USA (Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren..). Notably, Rey first came to the U.S. in 2006 to turn around the YSL Beauty business.
Earlier Rey held positions at Dannon food, Johnson & Johnson and McKinsey in Europe.
Rey sits in the board of the Fossil Group, of the beauty start-up Skintifique and is an advisory board member of The Luxury Education Foundation.
In 2016, Rey was honored by the American Cancer Society at their annual Dream Ball event, which raises funds for the Look Good Feel Better program. Also in 2016, he was named Newsmaker by WWD Beauty Inc. in their annual awards issue. In 2017, Dramatists Guild Foundation honored Rey with their Patron of the Arts award. In September 2018, Rey was recognized by the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) with their inaugural Men-tor award in recognition of his efforts in supporting and promoting the advancement of women in the beauty industry.
Rey holds an MBA from ESCP Europe in Paris and an AMP from Harvard Business School.
Born in France, Rey and his family became American in 2015 and live in NYC
