Why is CEW membership important to you?
My CEW membership helps me to stay informed of industry news and trends. It’s the first place I go to stay up to date. I also love the ability to network with colleagues.

What advice would you give someone who is inspired by your career and one day wants to be in a similar position?
My advice would be to follow your passion, know what you do well and the talents and skills that you can leverage to contribute to your organization. Stay focused, dedicated, and be open to opportunities as they come your way. I never imagined 10 years ago that I would move to NYC, but I stayed open to opportunities and today, I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

How important has mentorship been in your career journey?
Mentorship has contributed greatly to my career journey. Sometimes those around you can see the path ahead before you can see it yourself. I am so thankful for the mentors I have in my life- both personally and professionally that help to guide, provide advice, and challenge me to reach for more. I think everyone needs a mentor that believes in them, gives perspective, and supports them.

In which ways has the events surrounding Covid-19 affected your company and your day-to-day role?
My day-to-day role in Education and Events flipped upside down during COVID with teams, artists, and our field no longer touching or demonstrating product. Traditional in person education went virtual, so we shifted from classroom models to virtual trainings. The challenge we faced was how to engage adult learners, make it interactive, compelling, and effective.

Events halted in stores. Large groups were no more. We flipped this model and went virtual with artistry and skincare events. We focused on serving the client where they were- at home. We listened to what clients were looking for- at home skincare rituals, zoom ready makeup routines, how to fragrance your home… and responded to that with virtual events that met the client’s needs. It’s been challenging to completely flip our business models, and highly energizing at the same time.
