With a passion for travel, design and food combined with a unique sensibility honed from a multi-cultural upbringing, Sandra Main, the Global Brand President of Bobbi Brown and La Mer, understands the many ways women today connect with luxury and beauty.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Australia, with a Scottish father and a Chinese mother, Sandra has a keen understanding of the increasing convergence of cultures. With this true global point of view, she is responsible for driving the overall businesses for Bobbi Brown and La Mer, overseeing the growth of the brands around the world, while maintaining their authentic voice and heritage.
Most recently Sandra was appointed Global President of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and her goal is to build on the legacy of founder Bobbi Brown which defined a new approach to makeup and created a brand that helped women of different ages and ethnicities feel like the best version of themselves. “I had the benefit of working with Bobbi many years ago and appreciated how she was committed to producing products of uncompromising quality, teaching women about makeup and giving them confidence in their skin. My hope is to continue to develop more innovative must-have products and celebrate her philosophy of individual beauty while expressing in it a modern way to foster a devoted community.”
Since Sandra’s arrival at La Mer in November 2009, the brand has seen a significant increase in business across the globe, which she credits not only to La Mer’s beautiful portfolio of skincare but also to the incredible talent behind it. “La Mer is not just a product or a brand. It is a story, a very personal story but one that resonates across our many loyal consumers and is the foundation of the product’s iconic status. That is why it is essential to me to stay true to La Mer’s heritage while continually striving to propel the brand forward and create revolutionary skincare that truly makes a difference.”
Her personal and professional mantra is straight-forward: “Always keep learning, and lead from a place of humility. Humility is the true key to success. You have to recognize you can’t do it alone, and you are only as good as the people around you,” she said.
Sandra has been with the Estee Lauder Companies since 1995. Prior to joining La Mer, she was the Global General Manager of Bobbi Brown International where she crafted and executed the brand strategy, expanding into 18 new markets and resulting in an extensive growth in international business. Previously, Ms. Main worked on M·A·C Cosmetics for 10 years where she led a global expansion. She launched M·A·C in Asia, managing the brand growth for over 10 countries in the region.
Before coming to The Estee Launder Companies, Sandra held senior posts at Polo Ralph Lauren and Harvey Nichols. In these roles she directed programs such as buying, merchandising, distribution and promotions.
Sandra currently resides in New York City with her husband, Patrick and children, Chloe and Graydon. If she is not bicycling or wake boarding with her kids, you can find her in the kitchen perfecting her favorite Asian recipes.
