With the launch of a new beauty challenge, Perfect Corp. is aiming to promote impactful research and problem solving in the disruptive artificial intelligence (AI) beauty space. The company, which has realized more than 580 million downloads globally, is hosting its inaugural “AI Meets Beauty” challenge, which invites creative minds to utilize augmented reality (AR) and AI innovation machine learning to create a beauty product recognition solution that can help identify products and generate suggestions based off of real-world images.

“We believe in the transformative effects of AI learning and are investing heavily in developing next generation AR and AI solutions for beauty consumers, brands, and retailers,” said Alice Chang, CEO, Perfect Corp. “The global AI challenge calls for the world’s brightest minds to develop beauty tech solutions using AI to create a truly personalized, immediate, and readily accessible experience for beauty consumers and we cannot wait to see what entrants come up with.”

The challenge was inspired by Perfect Corp.’s AI development team which continues to build on its market-leading proprietary face-recognition technology that offers a variety of solutions including, real-time virtual hair color trials, skin health analysis and virtual makeup try-ons. By challenging the creative innovators of the future, Perfect Corp. hopes to inspire a future of effective new beauty tech solutions.

The challenge is a team-based competition and is being held in partnership with Academia Sinica, Cyberlink Corp. and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The top three performing teams will receive award certificates and cash prizes ranging from $500 to $2,000. To learn more, click here.
