Beginning May 8, and running through the end of October, the Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship in Manhattan will devote an entire floor – over 16,000 square feet – to Saks Wellery, a six-month concept space focused on wellness, fitness, beauty and technology. More than 20 rotating pop-up shops will present immersive experiences aimed at creating a healthier lifestyle while offering fitness classes, beauty demonstrations and treatments, along with unique therapies, active wear and even fitness equipment, all with the goal of achieving wellness for the soul, spirit and body.

“Saks is going through a complete gut renovation of our flagship store. On the second floor we had an opportunity in-between the renovation for a six-month window to create a unique space and experience,” said Roopal Patel, Senior Vice President, Fashion Director at Saks. “We realize the way customers are living their lives, centered around wellness. We came up with some of our favorite beauty and wellness offerings that we are excited about. When we look at the beauty component, we want some amazing experiences we know that our customers are looking for. This is one space that allows you to take your time and spend the day here.”

High-tech offerings will include top, non-invasive laser skin care treatments from Skinney Medspa, and non-invasive body contouring therapies, such as CoolSculpting for fat reduction, and Venus Freeze for cellulite removal. Other beautification treats will be laser hair removal, photo facials and face masks. Microcurrent treatments, mini microdermabrasion, mini dermaplaning and self-tanning applications will also be available.

Blink Brow Bar Brow will give customers the option to have threading and tinting, lash extensions and lash perming, while Sundays, a wellness lifestyle brand and nail studio, focuses on a variety of hand and nail indulgences, even foot and back massages. Long-time partner Trish McEvoy will offer cosmetics and skin care, while a new relationships with Glow Recipe, the holy grail of Korean beauty, looks to improve skin with natural K-beauty offerings. Other good-for-you goodies includes vitamin and supplement brands that are personalized and tailored to an individual’s diet and health goals. Forward-thinking treatments such the Breathe Salt Room, a dry salt therapy known to aid in detoxifying the respiratory system, looks to promote better breathing and sounder sleep. There are also meditation classes.

“Our customers can curate this to whatever their needs are that day. It’s for the current Saks customer who is always looking for something different, and we have a lot of global consumers, too, who are looking for a luxury experience in New York City,” she said. “Mind Body App is something we are all utilizing to get our classes on. Saks will now be registered as a destination for one of the classes. This is all to attract the current Saks customer, but also people interested in wellness and fitness. We are tapping into what customers are telling us about how they want to live their lives. And we at Saks are very dedicated to bringing our customers the experiences they are looking for. What we are seeking is the next luxury at Saks.”

If you feel lost or confused, don’t worry. Saks created a Wellery Concierge service to help customers navigate the floor, as well as assist with the booking of fitness classes including Bendable Body, ConBody, Bari Studio, Box + Flow, MNDFUL Meditation and Uma Gaia. Professionals from PXG will assess guests and fit them with golf clubs; Martone Cycling, a fashion and design-driven bike company, will give riding suggestions; luxury fitness equipment is on offer to help guests achieve their health goals. And to make sure you look good doing all these activities, athletic wear will be offered, as well.

But will it really disappear in six-months if the concept is successful?

“You never know, we might bring a version of it to another floor, but by December 2017 the second floor will be beauty’s permanent home,” Roopal said.
